About C&A

C&A is a leading global retail fashion business, providing quality, affordable clothing to 2.5 million customers each day. With more than 60,000 employees worldwide, we have retail business in 20 countries in Europe, as well as in Brazil, Mexico, and China.

Founded by Clemens and August Brenninkmeijer in 1841 in the Dutch City Sneek, we have been in business for 175 years. As a family owned business with deeply rooted values, we put our customers, employees, and communities first and measure sustainability in generations. This approach took root from the very beginning, when we made ready-to-wear clothing available to all. Now we’re building on this vision by addressing sustainability issues the apparel industry faces in its value chain. This means improving the way we design, buy and sell our products to create fashion with a positive impact for people and the environment.  The C&A retail business is part of the COFRA Group, headquartered in Zug, Switzerland.

To work towards our long-term goals, we collaborate with many other parties, especially the C&A Foundation, our partner on a number of sustainability programmes. The Foundation aspires to create a fair and sustainable apparel industry in which everyone - from farmer to factory worker - can thrive. C&A Foundation’s initiatives work more broadly across the entire apparel industry on long-term social and environmental solutions that can completely change how the industry and the trade operate.
